
Ellis Park, one of the oldest stadiums in South Africa, but it has received serious renovations in order to progress with the city, the sport and the technology.
The stadium was built in 1928 and it was used for Rugby one of the major sports in South Africa, the venue was used only for that purpose at the beginning. J D Ellis a city counselor gave that open space of the city to build the stadium, so it was name after him. The piece as used for the Rugby Football Union.
In 1982 it was demolished and rebuilt again but for the same purposes, mainly Rugby, but after the Golden Lions Ruby Football Union took over the management of the stadium, it has been more open for other events, soccer and music events. Read the rest of this entry »
