UFC: Fight Night, This Saturday

Ultimate Fighting Championship fans rejoice!  For the first time in the history of the UFC, this weekends fight card will be both free of charge, and available live on Spike TV.  Past free events have only been available on tape delay, and by the time they aired, most fans had already found out the winner.  This is a big step for the UFC in becoming a major player in the fighting world, willing to compete with boxing shows at the same time.  The main event is also a good one, pitting the middleweight champion of the world, Anderson Silva, vs. challenger James Irvin.  The undercard also features up and comers such as Brandon Vera and the highly touted Cain Velasquez.

MLB 2008 All-Star Game July 15th

The Boys of Baseball are back, for one last hurrah at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.  At the end of the season, “The House that Ruth Built,” will be closed for good, leaving behind it a life time of memories.  From famous boxing fights to hundreds of World Series games, but not without one more famous game, the All-Star game.  In years past the All-Star game was little more than an exhibition, with players from both sides smiling and having a good time throughout the duration of the game.  However, a few years ago that all changed, when it was declared that the winner of the All-Star game would win home field advantage for the World Series for their league.  Since that ruling in 2003 the American league has won every single Summer Classic.  In fact, the American league hasn’t lost an All-Star game since 1996, the closest coming a 7-7 tie in 2003, which sparked the needed importance of the game, showing that it was unacceptable for it to end in a tie.
