osu.bmp This year the Hooters match play championship was played in Fort Worth, Texas. As always it was a strong field since most of the top teams in the nation play in this event, its a good switch up from playing stroke play and actually getting the chance to play match play. The cowboys were ranked 4th out of the sixteen teams that were taking part in this years event, the reason why the cowboys were not ranked higher was due to their starting line up not including their two all americans Pablo Martin and Jonathan Moore. These two players were both in South Africa playing in the World Cup Team championship. Pablo was representing Spain and Jonathan was playing for the United States of America. Pablo managed to finish tied for seventh with rounds of 73-71-70-67.

During the morning round of day one OSU had to face 13th seeded North Carolina State, the wolfpack was not much match for the cowboys, whom won 4-1. During the afternoon match of day one, OSU was to face 5th seeded Clemson whom they swept away with a comanding 5-0 win. For their semi final match OSU had to face top seeded Florida this match could have gone either way, but OSU pulled of the win with a score of 3-1-1. To the surprise of most players and coaches the final was to be OSU against 11th seeded Lamar University whom was missing probably their top player – Dawie Van Der Walt whom was playing for his country South Africa in the same event as Pablo and Jonathan.

The cowboys pulled of the win with a final score of 3-2 over the Cardinals, OSU was solid throughout the whole event winning at total of 15 out of their individual 20 matches. This was the second time that they had won this event, they also pulled of the win in 2004, this was the last event for the cowboys for the Fall semester and they will start back up in Spring on Feb 7th at the Waikola Intercollegiate.
