The Poker Bible…

200193419-001.jpg

On any conversation with wisemen in the business or any friend’s garage poker night out, the most common subject will always be Doyle Brunson’s Super System. The so called Poker Bible, it’s an amazing tool when it comes to odds on each hand, reading players and the golden rules for you to be a winner.

This is a great book for every player looking to improve their game although I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re just starting out. Learn the basic concepts of the game first and some basic strategy before buying this book. it does go through all games as if you’re a beginner , even telling you how each game is played.

The book is very complicated to follow it’s almost like a manual. It takes time to master the techniques on this book so don’t expect to be the next MoneyMaker over night. You can take this book like’s it’s your masters degree on college, must cover every aspect before playing from what you have learn. It’s a 600 pages book so you have to take your time.

In my case I have gone thru it twice and I believe I’m not ready to take on the world just yet. It’s supported by many of the WSP payer’s as the book to go to if you have any doubt’s.

Remember though all the books in the world can’t give luck or the experience to master the game so hit the tables and find your “poker face”.

2006 Ryder Cup – European Weak Links?

Ryder Cup 2006   With the Ryder Cup starting in two days, what has to be on many peoples mind, is if Darren Clarke is ready for this Spotlight? It has now been a little over five weeks since he lost his wife to cancer. Took time of and did not even play in this Years PGA championship that was played in Illinois. What also one has to ponder is if Lee Westwood is ready to take on a tough Red, White and Blue squad. To my own disapointment being a fellow Dane, like Thomas Bjorn whom was born and raised in the same town as myself. I have had the great furtune to have played with Mr. Bjorn three times all at Silkeborg Golf and Country Club, in Denmark. Given that Bjorn has not been at his best, but still carries a higher world ranking the Lee Westwood and is one of the most fierce competitors that I have seen, he carries his heart and soul on his sleeve. When I read that Ian Woosnam the European Captain, picking Darren Clarke and Lee Westwood I felt outragged and confused, but thats when Bjorn took matters into his own hands and had a few things he wanted to say about the  Captain to the media. Which did him no good and he got fined, but at the time and in the heat of the moment I don’t feel that his comments were out of line.

Darren Clarke is an emotional wreck right now, and he will play with a lot of heart and wants to play well for his late wife Heather, whom passed away on Aug. 13, leaving behind her husband and two sons, 8-year-old Tyrone and 5-year-old Conor. After Darren missed the cut at this years British Open, he make a choice that all husbands would have done, he decide to put away his sticks and spend more time with his family and his sick wife. Darren Clarke was quoted as saying the following: “We went on a family holiday,” he said. “We went to Greece for a day, and didn’t like that; ended up in Portugal for a little bit. And after that, a bit of a rush to get back home on an air ambulance, just had a bit of a nightmare. But we got back home, and things went downhill rather rapidly” For any person this must have been some horrible times to go through, the worst being that touring golf professionals travel all the time and don’t spend a lot of time with their family.

Personally I can’t even start to imagine what it must feel like losing a wife or husband, it leaves me speechless. One of Darren’s close friends whom we all know, no other than Mr. Tiger Woods himself was asked about Darren and him playing this week and he responded: “It will be fantastic for him to play,” said Tiger Woods, one of Clarke’s closest friends on the U.S. tour whose father died in May after a long battle with cancer. “It will be fantastic for him to have teammates around him. I still think it’s going to be hard because every player has his wife there. It’s going to be hard in that environment at times. He knows that. We’ve talked about that. You have to deal with it one day, and it might as well be now.”

What this shows me is that its not all about pride and winning the Trophy, of course that matters a lot to the fans and what player would not like to say that they were part of the winning Ryder Cup team in 2006? But this battle between Europe and the USA is also about friendship and respect, one has to realize that most of these players see each other nearly week in and week out. Lets just hope the rain stays away and that we can all enjoy some of the best golfers in the world playing some top class golf.

What is Life about?

We might ponder then and again what the true meaning of life really is? Is it simply happiness or do we also need money to satisfy our needs? I personally think that its a combination of a bunch of things, I would like to think that its about health and happiness, money just re-enforces the happiness of one. As crazy as the following might sound I truely live the way I do becuase I have made a choice in life, I admire 2Pac (Tupac Shakur) Now yall might ask me why the heck do I admire a Thug/Rap artist well its simple the man rose from the ashes of New York, just like the Fenix does too. He had nothing and became the envy of all Rap Artists and became the Hero of all peeps that lived in the Ghetto. 2Pac Lived by the Gun and died by the Gun, he was a thug or at least wanted us all to believe so, but for the ones that actually know of 2pac can tell you that he was not just a Rap artist but that he was a community idol/leader and a poet. His poetry is the reason behind his deep lyrics.

Here is one of his poems that I carry in my wallet and that I would like to share with whomever wants to read it.

Today is filled with anger
fueled with hidden hate
scared of being outcast
afraid of common fate
Today is built on tragedies
which no one wants 2 face
nightmares 2 humanities
and morally disgraced
Tonight is filled with rage
violence in the air
children bred with ruthlessness
because no one at home cares
Tonight I lay my head down
but the pressure never stops
knawing at my sanity
content when I am dropped
But 2morrow I c change
a chance 2 build a new
Built on spirit intent of Heart
and ideals
based on truth
and tomorrow I wake with second wind
and strong because of pride
2 know I fought with all my heart 2 keep my
dream alive

2pac – And 2Morrow

Some of his rap lyrics that were written for songs back in the 90′s still have an effect on todays youth, take for example one of his most famous songs that can still be heard blasting in cars and at clunbs throughout the world.

CHANGESI see no changes all I see is racist faces
misplaced hate makes disgrace to races
We under I wonder what it takes to make this
one better place, let’s erase the wasted
Take the evil out the people they’ll be acting right
’cause both black and white is smokin’ crack tonight
and only time we chill is when we kill each other
it takes skill to be real, time to heal each other
And although it seems heaven sent
We ain’t ready, to see a black President!

When 2pac was gunned down in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 13th, 1996, yet even to this date we are still hearing his songs and they are still producing more albums with songs that he had recorded and written but never published before his life was premateur ended due to the life he lived.

I personally can say that his lyrics have had an effect on how I live my life, I now try to live day by day and take care of my loved ones and the people whom I care about. We have all probably done something at one point in our lives that we regret, but sometimes those things actually make us better people and stronger.

Will like to finnish of with one of my favorite quotes that I have ever read and that some of us might be able to relate to: “I believe that everything that you do bad comes back to you. So everything that I do that’s bad. I’m going to suffer from it. But in my, I believe what I’m doing is right. So I feel like I’m going to heaven

NFC South Clash Between Atlanta Falcons & New Orleans Saints

Monday Night Football September 25th, 2006

                    Falcons                       VS                        saints.bmp

So next weeks Monday Night Football will be a heads on clash between two teams from the NFC the Atlanta Falcons will play the New Orleans Saints no matter the outcome the Falcons will stil be sitting at the top of the Standings in their division since they have already had two wins and both of Saints wins were against teams outside of the NFC. What is true though is that one of the teams so far perfect season will come to an end on the 25th of September that is a fact!

Will the Dirty Bird from the Dirty South, A.K.A Atlanta be carried by their QuarterBack whom we all know is none other than Michael Vick, or will their Defense falter and allow the Saints their first win in their conference? Atlanta ranks 5th overall in the NFl in total offense and New Orleans ranks 10th in total offense, they are both very similar in defense Atlanta is ranked 11th and New Orleans is ranked 12th. Not being a super NFL fan, I prefer to stick the the NCAA football and Hoops, but having lived in Atlanta I don’t think that it will be fair for me to say whom I like to win, but I think I already did! I look for it to be a fast paced game and I see it being a high scoring game,

Ryder Cup 2006

Ryder Cup 2006

Next week September 22nd to September 24th, everyone whom wants to will be able to watch the 36th Ryder Cup matches which are going to be played in Kildare, Ireland at The K-Club. Here is a little background history and information about the Ryder Cup for those whom are not familiar with it. The Ryder Cup is a trophy that is contested biennially in an event officially called the Ryder Cup Matches by Teams from Europe and the United States of America. The Ryder Cup was born in  1926, with the US competing against Great Britain on the East Course, Wentworth Club, Virginia Water, Surrey, Great Britain. After more than 45 years of US dominance (Britain won only once between 1935 and 1973) it was extended to Britain and Ireland in 1973 and then Europe in 1979, which made the Cup considerably more competitive. Currently, the Ryder Cup Matches are jointly administered by the PGA of America and the PGA European Tour.

Due to the smashing of Great Britain by the US inthe first many matches in 1973 Ireland was added to the over seas squad, but to no help. Then in 1979 it finally became Europe Vs. US. Since 1995 Europe has won four of the last five meetings, the last meeting which was in 2004 Europe completly destroyed the US team on US soil with a final score of 18 1/2 to 9 1/2, will it be similar next week or will it be a close call, or will the Yankees win back the cup? Only time will tell!

Quick Fun Fact for yall!!

Colin Montgomerie,  has won more Ryder Cup points than Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson combined,

College Football Saturday Upsets!!

So yesterday was another great Saturday with lots and lots of College Football games, yesterday we had a lot of important games. Games that would have tremendous impacts on their chances of either contending for the National Championship or simply getting the opportunity to play a big Bowl game at the end of the season.

I would like to take this chance to just run through some of the results, even though yall probably are already aware of them. It was no shock to anyone that follows College football that Ohio State would outmatch the BearCats of Cinnci, LSU lost in the all Tiger match up against Match up, I can’t say that the outcome shocked me but the final score did. What kinda shocked me was not Notre Losing to Michigan but them getting smacked around like they were a High School squad was! It was sad to see that the CornHuskers were no match for the powerfull Trojans, there are not many teams that can ever come close to even having a close game with USC.

The Florida Gators just managed to get by the Vols, defending Champs routed poor ol Rice owls, not that it was a shock to anyone, in the ACC match up Clemson Tigers, yes I said Clemson beat FSU at the home of the seminoles. Miami Hurricanes were no match for the power offense of Louisville. The Blue Devils of Duke as always were horrible and got smacked around by Va Tech. California beat Portland State 42-16 which was a solid win if we just look at the score, but the fact that Portland State is actually a NCAA I AA, given that they are a good team and all, but come on California should have smacked them around a lot harder.

I would like ot think that I have kept the best for the last on this post, I don’t know how many of yall were lucky enough to watch the Oklahoma at Oregon game, I know I did. I was sitting at the local watering hole after my shift and was waiting to start bartending for the evening, even though the bar was just full of locals whom had no clue what Football is about other than the one that has more points wins. I thought the Ducks were done after giving up the ball, but what happened next will stay with me for a long time. Ducks score a touch down and covert the extra point, then they go for the offside kick and somehow that I don’t know they get the ball back run and score a touch down and covert for the extra point again, they all happened in less than 30seconds, yes I did not write it wrong. Now suddenly the Ducks are up by one point and pull of a field goal block as time ran out, this is by far one of the best come backs that I have ever seen in college football.

To Sleep Less and Dream More

I READ THIS FROM TIME TO TIME TO CENTER ME AND KEEP ME GOING… IT MIGHT NOT APPLY DIRECTLY TO SPORTS, BUT SPORTS AND LIFE TEND TO MIRROR EACH OTHER MORE OFTEN THAN NOT, I HOPE YOU ENJOY THE QUICK READ.

If for a moment God were to forget that I am a rag doll and granted me a piece of life, I probably wouldn’t say everything that I think; rather, I would think about everything that I say.

I would value things, not for their worth but for what they mean. I would sleep less, dream more, understanding that for each minute we close our eyes, we lose sixty seconds of light.

I would walk when others hold back, I would wake when others sleep, I would listen when others talk.

And how I would enjoy a good chocolate ice cream!

If God were to give me a piece of life, I would dress simply, throw myself face first into the sun, baring not only my body but also my soul.

My God, if I had a heart, I would write my hate on ice, and wait for the sun to show. Over the stars I would paint with a Van Gogh dream a Benedetti poem, and a Serrat song would be the serenade I’d offer to the moon.

I would water roses with my tears, to feel the pain of their thorns and the red kiss of their petals… My God, if I had a piece of life… I wouldn’t let a single day pass without telling the people I love that I love them.

I would convince each woman and each man that they are my favorites, and I would live in love with love.

I would show men how very wrong they are to think that they cease to be in love when they grow old, not knowing that they grow old when they cease to be in love!

To a child I shall give wings, but I shall let him learn to fly on his own. I would teach the old that death does not come with old age, but with forgetting.

So much have I learned from you, oh men … I have learned that everyone wants to live at the top of the mountain, without knowing that real happiness is in how it is scaled.

I have learned that when a newborn child first squeezes his father’s finger in his tiny fist, he has him trapped forever.

I have learned that a man has the right to look down on another only when he has to help the other get to his feet.

From you I have learned so many things, but in truth they won’t be of much use, for when I keep them within this suitcase, unhappily shall I be dying.

19th Ranked CornHuskers @ 4th Ranked Trojans

Saturday College FootBall.

Let the Clash Begin

         VS.

Is this going to be the year that once again the CornHuskers are able to return to the elite status of college football? Or will it be another let down for the peeps playing out of Lincoln, Nebraska or will the clean cut kids from Los Angeles suffer a devastating blow to become National Champs, may I say ‘Again’!

USC is favorite and are playing at home, will they cover the spread which is currently at -17, or will the CornHuskers pull of a shocker and not only cover the spread but actually beat the almighty Trojans playing in the Coliseum. What is a given fact is that one of these two teams will have their season hopes shut down by the time the final whistle is blown. This following fact might come to a shock to most readers, this is actually only the third time these two teams will face of against each other and the first time they will meet each other since 1970.

With USC’s Coliseum having a capacity crowd of over 90,000 it is expected for USC’s home opener, and who knows how many of those college fanatics will be wearing the red supporting their CornHuskers?

So Why Do we Work for a Sportsbook???

I am sure that I’m not the only person that asks themselves at least once a week or month, “Why am I working at at Sportsbook?” Well I would have to say that it would have to be classified as the Million Dollar Question. I would have to say that it all comes down to enjoying getting the satisfaction of helping out a client and making their day, that to me is worth all the money in the world. Having had the opportunity to work for Sportbet, for the past year and a bit I can honnestly say that I have learned a lot of things and have come to know a lot of our clients on a personal and professional way. The gaming industry has had a tremendous influence on the Country of Costa Rica, which is a one of a kind Country located in Central America with Nicaragua bordering up on the North and Panama down on the South,Eastern Side. This country is small and classified as a third world country, there are close to 5million people living in Costa Rica at this current time.

This amazing Country is known for its nature and its great beaches and surf spots, people arrive from around all over the world simply to come here and surf and enjoy the warm climate. Costa Rica not only has nature to offer, by that referring to deep sea fishing, golf courses, scuba diving, volcanos, nature parks full of amazing wild life, but it also bring mass amounts of tourists that come simply to enjoy the services of the many casinos that this country has to offer.

So getting back to Sportbooks & Online Casinos, not only does this industry offer a lot of jobs to both Costa Rican citizens and citizens from other countries. The industry also pays its employees a great salary especially when compared to the living expenses and what some professionals are currently making here. To me its not about the money this might not be the case with other clerks, but its a learning experience and a chance to improve ones English both spoken and written. Some people whom have actually gone to college and gotten degrees and yet chose to work in a Sportsbook and have gone to become high up among the manager positions. Something that will help them for future job positions, these are opportunities that they would have never gotten if it was not thanks to the mass amounts of Sportbooks and Online Casinos that are located here in Costa Rica!!!

Like the Locals would say ” PURA VIDA ”
