The second edition of the St. Petersburg Bowl will be played this Saturday, December 19th, at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. This time, the teams matching up will be the UCF Knights and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, and they’ll both go for the win at 8:00 pm Eastern Time.

This game will be Rutgers’ fifth consecutive bowl appearance after not playing a bowl for over 25 years, between 1979 and 2005. The Scarlet Knights are also one of nine BCS teams that have won a bowl game in each of the last three seasons.

The University of Central Florida, on the other hand, will be on its third bowl game, the last one being the 2007 Liberty Bowl. In that time, UCF fell defeated to the hands of the MSU Bulldogs 10-3, thanks to an outstanding overall defensive effort that included two interceptions.

Meeting for the first time ever, UCF and Rutgers will sure bring us quite a spectacle tomorrow night on St. Petersburg Bowl. With both teams holding a positive record of 8 wins and 4 losses, this match will sure be a tight one. And even though Rutgers seems to have a slight advantage with a -2.5 spread, anything can happen tomorrow.
