Champs Bowl

December 29th the Champs Sports Bowl will be played in Orlando, Florida and is being played at the Citrus Bowl the first time this Bowl was played was in 1990. This year it will be the Seminoles from Florida State taking on the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. The game is being played at 5:30pm Eastern Time and will be shown live via ESPN.

The event started of being called the Sunshine Classic then they changed it to the Blockbuster Bowl the name change continued for the next many years, but it has now kept the same name since 2004 when they changed it to the Champs Sport Bowl. The event normally hosts a team from the ACC and another from the Big East though that way change depending on whether teams are available or not. Last year it was the West Virginia Mountaineers that faced off against the North Carolina State Wolfpack and it the Pack that took the title last year with a score of 23-7.

This year we will have one ACC team the Florida State Seminoles who are 8-4 for the season and 5-3 in ACC play they will take on the Fighting Irish who are 8-4 for the season and it is the Seminoles that are favorites to win the game by three points. The total for the game right now is forty-six and a half points a more or less low scoring game is expected, but for those of you who have seen Tommy Rees from Notre Dame you know he is capable of driving the ball down the field with some of the best Quarterbacks in the Nation.

For the Seminoles they are making their third appearance in this Bowl and they have won their prior two appearances. They won the inaugural Bowl 24-17 against Penn State in 1990 and then again in 2008 they lifted the trophy with a score of 42-13 against the Wisconsin Badgers. For the Fighting Irish this will be their first appearance here in the Champs Sports Bowl and they are looking to try and finish the season on a high, that is why I would stay away from the spread and I would go with betting the over in this game.
