D-1

Denver Broncos{6-1} had there first loss of the season, to Baltimore Ravens a team that had loss 3 in a row, before blowing out Denver 7 to 30.  Now they host the well rested Pittsburgh Steelers{5-2}, coming of there bye week, it was Denver’s first loss under rookie head coach Josh McDaniels. The Broncos came in with the NFL’s top-ranked defense, a plus-7 turnover differential and one of the league’s best kick returners in Eddie Royal. Denver had also outscored the opposition 76-10 after halftime, and the Steelers won four in a row, last game they beat Minnesota Vikings 17- 27 before there break.

As you can see from the score, Denver did not have much of a highlight film this Sunday, Kyle Orton did not throw a touchdown for the first time this season, he only threw for 152 yards. The Broncos were held to season lows in rushing yards 66, and rushing attempts 19, all low point’s of the game. “We didn’t play our best ball, but they’re a pretty good team and they beat us pretty good today on all sides of the ball,” Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton said. “We didn’t really do a whole lot.” while the coach said “Anytime you have a game like this, it forces you to look in a mirror” McDaniels said. “Hopefully we can find out just as much about one another … through the adversity of a loss as you can through six wins.”

Coming of  a much needed break, after wining 4 games in a row, and the last game been against the Minnesota Vikings, in a game were Pittsburgh defense played strong making Brett Favre make mistakes.  Favre threw for 334 yards, his most in a game without a touchdown pass. It was also Favre’s most passing yards in a loss since 2006, in a game were the defense played a big part , it became a defensive duel, Favre allowed the Steelers to turn back Minnesota’s repeated comeback attempts, and the Steelers rode three major defensive stands to an important 27-17.

It was a humbling game for Denver losing like that, nothing was working for them. A game much like the one that is to be played Monday, Denver has to rebound fast and I don’t think they have the time to do that. Pittsburgh is coming in strong, and should get this win, taking advantage of Denver’s mishaps.
