49ers running against Detroit’s fly high game San Francisco 49ers (4-1) at Detroit Lions (5-0) Who would imagine that last years’ lousiest team in NFL now has an undefeated record of 5-0? Well, the Detroit Lions have turned history in their favor this year, looking great on the field, coming from behind in almost every game, which makes them one of the dangerous game-closers on the league. |

The San Francisco 49ers have been pretty solid this year, with a 4-1 record they come from winning last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 48-3, confirming they have one of the most unbeatable rushing defenses on the league, and don’t forget the Gore-factor, who has become a train on the ground as usual. The Lions have averaged 380 yards gained per game this year and permitted 339.2, scored 31.8 points per game and allowing only 17.8, the 49ers have 300 yards gained per game averaged and 340.8 allowed, scored 28.4 points per game and allowed only 15.6. And what do these stats guarantee? We will have a head-ripping defensive game, with a battle through the air by Detroit, and another fighting field through the ground by San Francisco. The Lions have been very solid on the offensive side of the ball, with Matthew Stafford completing 63.63% of his passes, throwing for 1436 yards and scoring 13 touchdowns, and most of his production is because Stafford has found in Calvin Johnson the perfect target with his 6’5’’ he’s almost unreachable when it comes to a high pass. Johnson has 29 catches for 451 yards and scored 9 touchdowns this season, getting better every game and turning into a complete nightmare against the defender taking care of him during the game. The 49ers have found in Alex Smith a good quarterback, not yet incredible but performing very solid this year, completing 65.87% of his passing attempts for 965 total yards and 7 touchdowns, but as it has been the San Francisco’s offensive past couple of years, they rely on their heavy rusher Frank Gore, who has 400 total rushing yards and 3 touchdowns, helping the team to establish a solid running game to give Alex Smith the freedom to put some good number through the air, most of them to Vernon Davis, who has 263 receiving yards and scored 3 touchdowns. The line for this game has Detroit as a 4 point favorite and the total set on 46, and my recommendation here is Detroit at home if you can buy it down to -3, but if you can’t, just take the under and enjoy the game.
