One more time we can point out that there is going to be an interesting game with Notre Dame. This opportunity will match Notre Dame Fighting Irish against the Michigan Wolverines being Michigan the home team. The game will be played at the Michigan Stadium located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The game is scheduled to start at 3:30 PM ET this September 12th and is going to be televised at ABC.
Both teams lived up to the hype against their “less than stellar” Week 1 opponents. The true test comes in Week 2 I think. Normally week 1 is just to warm up and get the opportunity to collect some numbers and stats to predict what is going to happen. If Irish QB Jimmy Clausen can duplicate his performance against Nevada (315 yards, four TDs) and the offensive line and defense continue to show improvement, Notre Dame will be celebrating in the Big House.
Nothing will be more devastating for Michigan than let Notre Dame win at home. Michigan has some good numbers, 510 total yards vr 439 on ND, 332 Passing Yards in average vr 197 for ND. So, I think that the game is kind of tight. Perhaps the most optimism surrounds the 18th-ranked Fighting Irish, who look to keep their offense rolling Saturday afternoon in Ann Arbor, where the Wolverines have shut them out in two of their past three visits.
Notre Dame barely qualified for a bowl with a 6-6 regular season in 2008 as the Wolverines suffered their worst season in school history. Though improvement was expected from two programs that had nowhere to go but up, they appeared to each make significant strides in Week 1.
Freshman quarterback Tate Forcier threw three touchdowns in his collegiate debut to lead Michigan (1-0) to a 31-7 win over Western Michigan, while junior Jimmy Clausen was nearly flawless against Nevada, throwing for 315 yards and four scores in the Irish’s 35-0 victory.
The prediction is really easy: Notre Dame is going to win, but the real question is by how much. I can tell that the advantage of Notre Dame is not going to be big, but I think that they will cover the general spread that is predicted. Notre Dame has to make more than 3 points to cover the spread and I think that they are prepared to do that.
