The West Virginia Mountaineers (# 21) will be at home to receive the Colorado Buffaloes, in a game that promises to deliver a lot of excitement and is expected to be one of the best match ups of this week. Kickoff is scheduled at 8:30 pm Eastern Time and all the action will be on ESPN.
West Virginia did not play last week, after a painful 41-30 loss to Auburn      (3 -0), the previous week that dropped their record to 2-1. The Mountaineers had more time of possession (32:45 against 27:15), more net yards passing (302 against 300), twice the net yards rushing (207 against 100), more plays (80 against 74) and more first downs (23 against 20). However, their loss came because of five interceptions and one lost fumble, a total of six turnovers against Auburn, who had just one.
The Buffaloes, on the other hand, recovered from two defeats in a row and bounced back last week with a win over Wyoming, 24-0. Rodney Stewart made two touchdowns with two runs (one for 2 yards, the other for 11 yards), while Scotty McKnight scored another (2 yard run) and Aric Goodman added a 20 yard field goal.
The Mountaineers should come strong and win their first game away, but it will all depend on Pat White’s game and if he will recover from last game’s disaster. I believe he will and that, combined with a good defense against the Buffaloes, will give West Virginia a comfortable win.
