The first team invited to the final of the 2010 World Cup at South Africa was Netherlands, after a very tough game against 2 time World Champion, Uruguay. The Mechanic orange is going to their second world cup final, the last time they were kin this spot was in Argentina 78.
The game was very tough in the first half, both of the teams had options but the Tulip game was clearer and at the 18th minute Giovanni Van Bronckhorst score probably the best goal of the World Cup, it was a shot from the left side of the box and the ball got in the very angle of the goalie, goalkeeper Fernando Muslera did his best but the shot was deadly and the Tulips went ahead in the scoreboard.
After the goal Uruguay kept fighting to try to tie the game prior the end of the 1st half and they did it at the 44th minute Diego Forlan scored his 5th goal in this cup, the goal was from outside the box probably 40 mts away from the goalie and a left footed shot ended in the net, goalkeeper Stekelenburg couldn’t do anything else rather than try to touch the ball but the shot was so hard and fast that the Jabulani did what it does best move at the end of every shot. The goal was superb and the 5th for Diego Forlan in this competition.
The second half stared with an Uruguay fully motivated and they put the rhythm in the game with shots and playing in the area of Netherlands, we might say it was the best Uruguay we saw in the cup until the 70th minute when Arjen Robben netted the second goal for Netherlands on the first attack of the second half for the Tulips, the goal was a center kick from Dirk Kuyit from the left side of the pitch and Robben hit a header in the left post from Fernando Muslera who stood still watching the ball getting in the goalie, not his fault it was a great goal.
The game continued with a Uruguay almost with the destiny to be defeated and at the 73rd minute Sneijder kick the ball from inside the box and the third goal for Netherlands was a reality; it was the 5th goal for Wesley Sneijder in this competition. By that time all the cards were dealt the game was for Netherlands and they were going to their 2nd world cup final.
But at the end of the game Uruguay stared to put pressure again in the Tulip area and at the 90th minute the second goal for Uruguay came, the scoreboard 3-2 for Netherlands, it was too late for Uruguay to try to get a third goal with just a few minutes away, don’t get me wrong they tried until the end but the last possessions from Uruguay were more desperate.
At the end of the game Netherlands fairly winner and Wesley Sneijder was named for the 5th time the man of the match. Now the Tulips are waiting for the other contender for the final game on Sunday, the other semifinal will be Germany vs Spain tomorrow night South Africa time.
