The British Open is one of the oldest tournaments from the Major events that are played during the entire year. The tournament is usually held in any of the most prestigious gold centers of the United Kingdom and is directed by The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of Saint Andrews. This time the event will be taking place from July 16th to the 19th and the place will be the Turnberry Resort (Ailsa Course) at South Ayrshire, Scotland.

The tournament looks interesting. We have to take into count that both Tiger Woods and Padraig Harrington have two consecutive winnings in the tourney. That makes the odds pretty even for both of them but actually, Tiger Woods is the one that has the favoritism from the audience.

Padraig won in 2008 and 2007 while Woods did it in 2006 and 2005. Among all the players that will attend the event in two days, these two are the ones that everybody are keeping a close eye on.

I can tell that  it is the most important tournament from the major tournaments because of the huge prize. Last year the prize was 4 million of pounds which is approximately 5.86 millions of Euros. This year the purse is $6.8 million and the winner share is $1.2 million.

The television schedule is available now and is going to be broadcast either in TNT or ABC. Here is the schedule:

Thursday 7/16: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET on TNT
Friday 7/17: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET on TNT
Saturday 7/18: 7-9 a.m. ET on TNT; 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. ET on ABC
Sunday 7/19: 6-8 a.m. ET on TNT; 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. ET on ABC

The odds are available now. My pick is Tiger Woods. Actually I will very disappointed if he does not win this tournament and get the leadership. More information here.
